                              Homeless Pets Foundation

                                     School Clubs

               Article I:  Name of Club

         Article II: Purpose of Club:

The purpose of the pet club is to assist The Homeless Pets Foundation and other community animal shelters with finding homes for the thousands of neglected and homeless animals in our community. In the Atlanta area alone, more than 100,000 animals are destroyed each year because they are homeless. The Homeless Pets Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1998 by Dr. Michael Good, an Atlanta veterinarian, who created an organization that could assist animal shelters and pet owners in need. The foundation helps by providing critical medical care, food, foster care and comfort to these homeless animals.

Our club objective is to give a “voice” to these homeless animals by creating a network of communication throughout our community via internet (e-mail). Our club will sponsor a homeless dog or cat until that animal is adopted to a good home. We will post and send information and photos of the homeless animal through our computer  network of e-mails to family, friends, and community members. Again, we will continue to sponsor the animal until it is adopted. As we involve more students in this process, the “voice” for these homeless animals will increase in power and become more widespread, thus allowing more animals to find loving homes. Innocent lives will be saved annually through the collective responsibility of the students.

         Article III:  Powers

The club members will vote for offices of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.

          Article IV:  Meetings

 1.    Meeting will be held monthly, date to be determined

2.    The President shall be responsible for preparing an agenda for each meeting.

  Article V:  Membership

Membership in the club is open to all students currently enrolled in the participating school. Students must be willing to support the club’s mission and have a sincere interest in being active within the club. Repeated discipline problems or lack of attendance at meetings will terminate membership.  If a member misses more than five (5) meetings, his/her membership will be terminated. If an officer violates any constitutional rule, or doesn’t perform his/her duties responsibly, membership will vote to keep or remove him/her from office.

         Article VI:  Dues

Dues will be determined by club members. The fees may help cover costs of club t-shirts and or any other related supplies.

         Article VII:  Officers and Duties

1.    The officers shall consist of a President, a Vice-President, a Treasurer, and a Secretary.

2.    The President shall preside over all meetings. The President shall be responsible for the general  supervision of activities and programs such as scheduling member visits and work at the animal shelters. The President will notify The Homeless Pets Foundation of any pet being sponsored so it can be maintained on the Homeless Pets Foundation website.

3.    The Vice-President shall assist the President and act in the absence of the President. The Vice-President shall accept responsibility for those duties the President has delegated.

4.   The Treasurer shall be responsible for the financial affairs of the club and shall keep accurate financial records.

5.    The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all club meetings. The Secretary shall be responsible for the correspondence and administrative paperwork for the club when requested by the President.

       Article VII: Elections

 1.    Officers shall be elected annually by the members of the club. Elections shall be held on date determined by club.

2.   Any member of the club may nominate him or herself or any other member for a position as an officer. All members shall have one vote by secret ballot.

3.    Elections will be held under such rules decided by a majority of the active membership beforehand.
