How to Help the Homeless Pets Foundation

Foster

Work with the Homeless Pets Foundation to foster animals in our program.

Save the life of a cat or dog, kitten or puppy by becoming a foster parent. Every new foster family means another pet rescued from over-burdened public shelters.

What the Homeless Pets Foundation foster provides:

First and foremost, a foster should provide a loving home for the dog or cat. An extra room in the home is required for cats and kittens, and the foster needs to provide a little extra time each day to care for and play with the foster pet, so he or she is well socialized when it's time to move into a new adoptive home. Finally, personal pets should be current on vaccines, including Bordatella for dogs.

What the Homeless Pet Foundation provides:
The Homeless Pets Foundation provides information and support so your experience will be positive. We provide all medical care via Town and Country Vet Clinic in Marietta and can provide crates, collars, and leashes if needed.

How long will the the Homeless Pets Foundation animal be in the foster's home?
We ask foster parents to foster the cat or dog until he or she is adopted. The length of time can be anywhere from a few days to several months.

What are the benefits of being a foster parent?
The answers are as varied as the people who become foster parents. Some of the most common comments the Homeless Pets Foundation receives are:

    1) the satisfaction of knowing you were directly responsible for saving an animal's life
    2) the joy of raising kittens and puppies for a few weeks without the responsibility of a longer term commitment
    3) the chance to work with your kids on a great family project which is not only fun but also teaches responsibility
